Cars.com’s American-Made Index ranks vehicles sold in the United States by where they are assembled, how much of their parts come from domestic suppliers, and how many workers build them domestically. The 2026 list shrank to 86 vehicles, down from 99 a year earlier, as Cars.com tightened its assembly and parts-sourcing criteria. Here are ten vehicles that rank as the most American-made this year.
1. Tesla Model 3: Six Years Running
The Model 3 keeps the top spot on the 2026 American-Made Index for a sixth straight year, the longest active streak on the list. The ranking weighs assembly location, domestic parts content, U.S. factory employment, and where the engine and transmission are sourced.
That consistency traces back to Tesla’s Fremont, California factory, which has assembled the Model 3 since 2017 and sources the bulk of its components domestically rather than importing major subsystems from overseas suppliers. The methodology has rewarded that setup every year the index has run, even as rival automakers add more U.S. assembly plants of their own.
2. Tesla Model Y: Second Place Again
The Model Y holds the No. 2 position for a second straight year on the 2026 American-Made Index, trailing only its Model 3 stablemate. Tesla builds the Model Y at both its Fremont, California and Austin, Texas factories, giving it a broader domestic manufacturing footprint than most rivals on the list.
The pairing gives Tesla two of the index’s top two slots, a rare feat for a single automaker on a list of 86 vehicles from dozens of U.S. auto plants nationwide this year.
3. Jeep Gladiator: Stellantis’s Top Truck
The Gladiator pickup takes No. 3 on the 2026 American-Made Index, one of two Stellantis models inside the top four. It is built alongside its Wrangler sibling at Stellantis’s Toledo, Ohio complex, a plant the automaker has run since the original Jeep left the assembly line there.
The ranking places the Gladiator ahead of most rival midsize trucks, most of which source more parts and final assembly from plants outside the United States. That domestic sourcing edge has held steady even as Jeep expanded Gladiator trim options and production volume in recent model years.
4. Jeep Grand Cherokee: Detroit’s Family SUV
The Grand Cherokee, counted together with the extended Grand Cherokee L, ranks No. 4 on the American-Made Index. Both versions roll off the same Detroit, Michigan assembly line that Stellantis converted from Jeep Cherokee production.
Its top-four finish keeps Stellantis represented twice in the index’s leading pack, alongside the Gladiator, even as the broader midsize SUV segment leans more on imported components than pickups do. That distinction matters because the Grand Cherokee is one of the best-selling three-row SUVs in the country, so its sourcing choices carry outsized weight in the index’s totals.
5. Honda Ridgeline: Leading Honda’s Sweep
The Ridgeline pickup sits at No. 5 on the 2026 American-Made Index, the first of five Honda-badged vehicles that fill half of the top 10. It shares its unibody platform and Alabama assembly plant with several other Honda and Acura models on the list.
That plant cluster in Lincoln, Alabama, is central to why Honda dominates the index’s upper half more than any other automaker this year, ahead of Detroit’s traditional truck makers. Honda has leaned on that Southern manufacturing base for two decades, long before the sourcing criteria behind this index existed.
6. Honda Odyssey: The Minivan Holdout
The Odyssey minivan ranks No. 6 on the American-Made Index, Honda’s second entry inside the top six. It is assembled at Honda’s Lincoln, Alabama plant, the same Southern facility that also builds the Ridgeline higher on the list.
Minivans have been a shrinking segment industrywide for years, yet the Odyssey’s domestic sourcing keeps it competitive on this ranking even as sales volume trails crossover SUVs. That resilience reflects how much of the minivan’s parts content, from its V6 engine to its transmission, stays sourced within the United States rather than shipped in from overseas suppliers.
7. Lexus TX: Toyota’s Lone Entry
The three-row Lexus TX lands at No. 7 on the 2026 American-Made Index, the only top-10 vehicle from Toyota despite the automaker placing more models on the full list than any other brand. It is built at Toyota’s Princeton, Indiana plant.
The gap between Toyota’s broad presence on the list and its single top-10 finish shows how the ranking rewards depth of domestic content, not just the number of qualifying vehicles a brand sells. Lexus assembles the TX in Indiana rather than importing it, a choice most luxury three-row SUVs from other brands still do not make.
8. Honda Accord: Honda’s Volume Sedan
The Accord sedan ranks No. 8 on the American-Made Index, the third of five Honda-badged vehicles filling half the top 10. It is built at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio plant, the automaker’s oldest U.S. assembly site.
As one of Honda’s highest-volume nameplates, the Accord’s placement helps explain why the brand outnumbers every rival automaker in this year’s top tier despite fielding a smaller overall U.S. lineup. Honda has centered its U.S. manufacturing strategy on Ohio and Alabama for decades, a footprint that keeps parts sourcing and assembly close together rather than scattered across multiple countries.
9. Acura MDX: The Luxury Bookend
The Acura MDX ranks No. 9 on the 2026 American-Made Index, the fourth of five Honda-family vehicles rounding out the top 10. It is built alongside other Acura models at Honda’s East Liberty, Ohio plant.
As Honda’s flagship luxury SUV, the MDX shows the parent company’s domestic sourcing strategy reaches beyond its mainstream Honda badge into the premium Acura lineup as well. That consistency across both brands is a large part of why Honda claims more top-10 finishes on this year’s index than Toyota, General Motors, Ford, or Stellantis manage individually.
10. Honda Passport: Rounding Out The List
The Passport SUV closes out the top 10 at No. 10 on the American-Made Index, the fifth and final Honda-badged vehicle in the top tier. It shares its underlying platform with the larger Pilot and is built at Honda’s Lincoln, Alabama plant.
That fifth finish gives Honda exactly half of the top-10 list, a sweep no other automaker matched in the 2026 rankings despite fielding vehicles across nearly every size class. It also confirms Honda’s Alabama and Ohio plants as the most concentrated domestic-sourcing operation of any automaker measured this year.
