10 hybrids and EVs most likely to reach 250,000 miles, with a Lexus RX at 28.9%

Longevity rankings usually favor gasoline trucks and SUVs, but a September 2026 iSeeCars study of 395 million vehicles puts hybrids and EVs in the spotlight. The average vehicle has a 5.4% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, while the hybrid and EV class comes in at 8.2%. Here are ten hybrids and EVs ranked by their odds of going the distance.

Topping every hybrid in the SlashGear report on the study, the Lexus RX Hybrid carries a 28.9% chance of reaching 250,000 miles and beyond. That figure is the best result among all hybrids in the study and sits far above the 5.4% average for all vehicles.

The number is a modeled probability across a very large sample, so it describes the odds for the model overall rather than a guarantee for any single SUV. It still makes the Lexus the clear headline of the ranking, and the margin over the Highlander Hybrid at 20.7% shows how far ahead it sits.

2. Toyota Highlander Hybrid: Family Hauler With Staying Power

Next on the list, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid has a 20.7% chance of achieving the 250,000-mile milestone, according to SlashGear summary of the study. That result puts the hybrid SUV well behind the Lexus RX but comfortably ahead of most of the field.

Compared with the 5.4% figure for the average vehicle, the odds are nearly four times higher. The result suggests that the hybrid version of the Highlander can hold up for years of heavy use. Only the Lexus RX Hybrid posts a better figure in the study, which keeps the Toyota near the very top.

3. Honda Accord Hybrid: Best Non-Toyota Hybrid

Among hybrids from outside the Toyota family, the Honda Accord Hybrid ranks highest. SlashGear coverage of the study puts its chance of hitting 250,000 miles at 18.5%.

That edge over every other non-Toyota hybrid makes the sedan the standout for shoppers who prefer another brand. As with the rest of the study, the percentage reflects modeled odds, so condition and maintenance still decide the outcome for an individual car. The Accord trails only Toyota and Lexus entries in the hybrid ranking.

4. Toyota Avalon Hybrid: Large Sedan, Long Odds

The Toyota Avalon Hybrid has a 17.4% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, per SlashGear write-up of the study. The figure keeps the sedan in the upper tier of the ranking.

Its odds are more than triple the 5.4% average for all vehicles studied. The result is a reminder that a hybrid sedan can compete on long-term durability. It also lands just behind the Honda Accord Hybrid at 18.5%, so the top four hybrids sit close together. That ranking leaves the Avalon ahead of the Prius and Camry Hybrid, both at 11.5%.

5. Toyota Prius: Icon Tied for Mid-Table

The Toyota Prius shows an 11.5% chance of reaching 250,000 miles in the figures reported by TFLcar study roundup. That result ranks 24th overall among all models in the study, not just hybrids.

The odds are roughly double the 5.4% average vehicle. Even so, the Prius sits well below the leaders on this list, which shows how strong the top of the ranking really is. A rank of 24th among every model studied is still a respectable showing for a hybrid.

6. Toyota Camry Hybrid: Prius Twin on Longevity

Matching the Prius exactly, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has an 11.5% chance of reaching the quarter-million mark, according to TFLcar longevity roundup. The tie puts two of the brand’s best-known hybrids on identical footing.

That rate is about twice the 5.4% figure for the average vehicle. For buyers weighing a mainstream sedan, it signals durability that holds up well against the wider market, though it remains a probability and not a promise. Placing the Camry Hybrid level with the Prius also hints at how consistent the brand’s hybrid system is across body styles.

7. Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: Just Above Average

Rounding out the middle of the list, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has a 5.9% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, as shown in the iSeeCars longevity study. That is only modestly above the 5.4% average vehicle.

The narrow margin may surprise owners expecting more from the RAV4 Hybrid. It also shows how far the top of the ranking, led by the Lexus RX at 28.9%, sits above a typical result. Still, finishing above average is a passing grade in a study of 395 million vehicles.

8. Lexus ES Hybrid: Luxury Sedan, Modest Odds

Lower on the list, the Lexus ES Hybrid has a 5.1% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, according to the iSeeCars longevity study. That is slightly below the 5.4% average for all vehicles in the study.

The gap stands out because the Lexus RX Hybrid leads the same ranking by a wide margin. It suggests that durability can differ sharply between models from one brand, even when they share a hybrid badge. Buyers comparing the two Lexus hybrids should weigh that gap, since the ES ranks well below the RX at 28.9%.

9. Tesla Model X: Electric SUV Among Three Ranked

Representing electric vehicles, the Tesla Model X has a 3.6% chance of reaching 250,000 miles in the iSeeCars longevity study. It is one of only three EVs with enough data to rank in the study.

The odds fall below the 5.4% average for all vehicles. Limited volume for electric models means the figures are an early read, and they should be treated as a snapshot of a young segment rather than a final verdict. The Model X still has data behind it, which is more than most electric models can claim here.

10. Tesla Model S: EV Flagship Closes the List

Closing the ranking, the Tesla Model S has a 3.1% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, as listed in the iSeeCars longevity study. The sedan sits just behind the Model X among the electric entries. Only three EVs had enough volume to be ranked, so each result carries extra weight.

Both Tesla results trail the hybrid leaders by a wide margin. The comparison is a useful check on the premise of the list, since hybrids dominate the top of a ranking that includes only a few EVs. A 3.1% chance is below the 5.4% average, but the sample for electric models remains small.
